Students and Leaders from the Marine Corps University (MCU) School of Advanced Warfighting (SAW) gather at Fleet Marine Force, Atlantic, Marine Forces Command (MARFORCOM) headquarters, Norfolk, Virginia, July 21, 2022. The students visited the command to participate in a briefing and discussion of MARFORCOM functions and capabilities. The SAW mission is to develop lead planners and future commanders with the will and intellect to solve complex problems, employ operational art and design/execute campaigns in order to enhance the Marine Corps’ ability to prepare for and fight wars. Graduates of the SAW program receive a Master’s Degree in Operational Studies from MCU and U.S. Marine Corps officers earn the military occupational specialty Operational Planner.
