U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Brook Leonard, U.S. Space Command’s chief of staff, poses for a photo with Ms. Deborah Robinson, Director of the Foreign Policy Advisor’s (POLAD) office in the Political-Military Bureau in Washington, D.C., and Mr. Marc Williams, USSPACECOM Foreign Policy Advisor, May 2, 2022, at Peterson Space Force Base, Colo. POLADS provide invaluable foreign policy expertise and advice to senior, strategic level military leaders serving at various commands throughout the world. The program has grown from a handful of POLADs since its inception in 1960, to 90 positions today, with postings in component commands, major headquarters, and in military units assigned to conflict areas. POLADS serve on behalf of the Department of State (DoS) to provide interagency cooperation with the Department of Defense. USSPACECOM alongside our key allies and international partner seek to deter aggression and irresponsible behavior to ensure a safe, secure, stable and sustainable space environment.
