Sergeant Yan C. Barreto, 549th Transportation Company, 129th Division Sustainment Support Battalion, 101st Airborne Division Sustainment Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), buckles his daughter, Penelope, into a car seat, March 2, 2021, in his Hyundai Santa Fe. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, or NHTSA, reports children dying in hot cars has increased over the last few years. Infants are especially vulnerable to extreme temperatures because their bodies are not yet equipped to regulate heat, according to the Centers for Disease Controls and Prevention.
