U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Cole Kitchin, an infantry Marine with Battalion Landing Team 2/5, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, cleans his rife on Ie Shima, Okinawa, Japan Aug. 5 2022. BLT 2/5 acted as the security element during a forward arming and refueling point exercise, securing the area of operation to ensure operational safety and mission success. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the Tripoli Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
