U.S. Marine Corps Col. Todd Ferry, deputy commander, Marine Corps Installations East-Marine Corps Base (MCB) Camp Lejeune, speaks during a ribbon cutting ceremony in honor of Gunnery Sgt. Terry Ball on MCB Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Aug. 4, 2022. The former staff noncommissioned officer’s club, dedicated to Ball, was destroyed during Hurricane Florence in 2018 and as a result, Balls memorial was moved to a new location. At a later day, the restaurant and sports bar will be dedicated to Ball for his service to the Marine Corps where he sustained fatal wounds while assigned to India Company, 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
