U.S. Marine Corps and Navy veterans who served with 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, carry a memorial cross atop 1st Sergeant's Hill as part of a memorial hike at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California on Aug. 22, 2022, honoring 3/5 Marines who were lost during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Veterans who served with 3/5 reunited to construct a memorial for their fallen brothers who were killed in action. The hike was conducted as part of a retirement for Maj.
