PACIFIC OCEAN (Aug. 31, 2022) – Sailors, and Marines assigned to the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, simulate treating an injured Marine during a medical evacuation exercise in the medical bay of amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), Aug. 31. Medical evacuation exercises demonstrate the ship’s ability to process and accommodate personnel safely and seamlessly. The Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, comprised of amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) and amphibious transport docks USS Anchorage (LPD 23) and USS John P. Murtha (LPD 26), is underway conducting integrated training operations with the 13th MEU in the U.S. 3rd Fleet to prepare for an upcoming deployment.
