PACIFIC OCEAN (Sept. 1, 2022) – Aviation Ordnanceman 2nd Class Henry Raymond participates in a Navy-wide advancement exam on a mess deck aboard amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), Sept. 1. Navy-wide advancement exams provide sailors an opportunity to compete for promotion against their peers through an unbiased system. The Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, comprised of amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) and amphibious transport docks USS Anchorage (LPD 23) and USS John P. Murtha (LPD 26), is underway conducting integrated training operations with the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit in the U.S. 3rd Fleet to prepare for an upcoming deployment.
