PACIFIC OCEAN (Sept. 2, 2022) – Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Sophia Rath performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation during a medical evacuation simulation aboard amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), Sept. 2. The simulation consisted of the safe evacuation of civilian noncombatants and nonessential military personnel from danger in an overseas country to a designated safe haven, typically within the continental United States. The Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, comprised of amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) and amphibious transport docks USS Anchorage (LPD 23) and USS John P. Murtha (LPD 26), is underway conducting integrated training operations with the13th Marine Expeditionary Unit in the U.S. 3rd Fleet to prepare for an upcoming deployment.
