PACIFIC OCEAN (Sept. 3, 2022) – Lance Cpl. Louis Esparza, a food service specialist assigned to 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, prepares spare ribs in the wardroom aboard amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), Sept. 3. Food service attendants are temporarily assigned to supply department to assist in galley operations. The Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, comprised of amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) and amphibious transport docks USS Anchorage (LPD 23) and USS John P. Murtha (LPD 26), is underway conducting integrated training operations with the 13th MEU in the U.S. 3rd Fleet to prepare for an upcoming deployment.
