Earth observations taken during the STS-95 mission from the space shuttle Discovery including: Salton Sea, Imperial Valley, US/Mexican border in California (006). This north-looking oblique view shows the US Atlantic coastline from Albemarle Sound (bottom right) to the Delmarva Peninsula and Chesapeake Bay (foreshortened, center), to Long Island (upper center). Narragansett Bay appears top right. Gray patches show the locations of cities of the East Coast ''megalopolis'' -cities can be discerned on a slanting line from Washington, D.C. (extreme left, just above the sickle bend of the Potomac), to Baltimore on a western arm of Chesapeake Bay, to Philadelphia on the Delaware River, to the largest gray patch which is the cluster of cities in southern New York state and NE New Jersey (especially New York City and Jersey City separated clearly in this view by the Hudson River). Views 006 and 010 were selected by the crew for use in their postflight presentation.
