Philippines Sea, Japan (Aug. 15, 2022) Construction Mechanic 2nd class Quinn Kielty (left), Equipment Operator Constructionman Ty Mathis (center), and Equipment Operator 2nd Class David Montenegro (right) with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NCMB) 4, attached to the 31st Combat Logistics Battalion (CLB), perform line handling during a replenishment-at-sea abroad USS Rushmore (LSD 47). Underway replenishment provides necessary supplies like food, fuel, and repair parts while allowing for maintained maritime operations. NMCB-4 is forward deployed throughout the Indo-Pacific region and United States territories to support and maintain a free and open Indo-Pacific. As the stand-in, crisis response, naval engineering force, NMCB-4 maintains a ready posture to deliver in-theater expeditionary logistics via expeditionary shore infrastructure, forward damage repair, and mobile construction.
