SASEBO, Japan (July 11, 2022) - Steelworker 2nd Class Lawrence Evanslarkin assigned to Underwater Construction Team TWO (UCT-2) Construction Dive Detachment Bravo (CDD/B) utilizes a hammer and chisel to remove overgrowth around a sink hole and prepare the site for a custom-made patch at Akasaki Wharf, located at US Navy Fuel Station Akasaki in Sasebo, Japan. Akasaki Wharf is one of the primary fueling piers for Navy assets within the 7th Fleet Area of Responsibility (AOR). UCT-2 CDD/B has been tasked with executing temporary repairs at Akasaki Wharf to prevent further undermining while the pier awaits a permanent repair.
