SASEBO, Japan (July 13, 2022) - Lieutenant Junior Grade Eddie Zhang and Builder 1st Class Andrew Davis assigned to Underwater Construction Team TWO (UCT-2) Construction Dive Detachment Bravo (CDD/B) prepare to conduct an inspection dive of the undermining located underneath Akasaki Wharf, located at US Navy Fuel Station Akasaki in Sasebo, Japan. Akasaki Wharf is one of the primary fueling piers for Navy assets within the 7th Fleet Area of Responsibility (AOR). Years of accumulated washout caused by ship propeller action has resulted in undermining along Akasaki Wharf. UCT-2 CDD/B has been tasked with executing temporary repairs at Akasaki Wharf to prevent further undermining while the pier awaits a permanent repair.
