THULE AIR BASE, Greenland – The iconic “Top of the World” signage adorns a hangar at Thule Air Base, Greenland, the Department of Defense’s northernmost installation, Aug. 9, 2022. Located 750 miles north of the Arctic Circle, Thule’s 10,000-foot runway supports more than 3,000 U.S. and international flights per year.
