This air defense system diagram shows how the Semi-Automatic Ground Environment (SAGE) Direction Center served as the hub of air defense-related sensors, weapons and command and control for an assigned area of operations. The Portland Air Defense Sector (POADS) direction center (DC-13 in the Air Defense Command SAGE network) was based at Adair Air Force Station, Oregon, from where it exerted command and control over the 142nd and 337th fighter groups at Portland Air Force Base from 1960 to 1966.
