DETROIT, Mich. - Members of the American Veterans Post 2006 Color Guard attend the 17th Annual Detroit Veterans Day events on Nov. 6, 2022. (Army Reserve photo by Sgt. Cameron Thurman, 220th Public Affairs Detachment).
American Veterans Post 2006 designates a "Color Guard" as a unit that presents the colors at various public events such as parades, school activities, veteran functions, and patriotic programs. The color guard carries an assortment of flags, each representing its own distinct tribute to America and its past and present military members.
The Armed Service Salute (TASS) is a celebration of Michigan's veterans, active military, civilian community support, and the authentic patriotism inspired by that collaboration. TASS consists of three events on one day of continuous patriotic Veterans Day observance. Events like these help to further solidarity between the military and the public.
