Squad leaders from all six competing squads in the 244th Engineer Battalion’s Best Squad pose at Fort Carson, Colorado. The competition, from Nov. 4-6, 2022, tested six squads from the battalion in basic soldier tasks: reacting to direct and indirect fire, marksmanship, properly checking the functionality of a military vehicle before operation, and emergency medical and evacuation procedures. The following units were represented by a squad from each of them: 409th Engineer Company, 282nd Engineer Company, 244th Forward Support Company, 364th Engineer Company, Headquarters and Headquarters 416th Theater Engineer Command, and the 323rd and 333rd Engineer Detachments.
