U.S. Marines with 3rd Marine Logistics Group, U.S. Army Soldiers with 95th Chemical Company, 17th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 11th Airborne Division, and members of the 102nd nuclear, biological, chemical company, Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, put up a decontamination tent while participating in a bilateral chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear mass casualty training event during exercise Keen Sword 23 at Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, November 12, 2022. Keen Sword is a biennial training event that exercises the combined capabilities and lethality developed between 3rd MLG, III Marine Expeditionary Force, and the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force. This bilateral field-training exercise between the U.S. military and JSDF strengthens interoperability and combat readiness of the U.S. Japan Alliance. 3d MLG, based out of Okinawa, Japan, is a forward deployed combat unit that serves as III MEF’s comprehensive logistics and combat service support backbone for operations throughout the Indo-Pacific area of responsibility.
