CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. (Nov. 15, 2022) – Rear Admiral Darin K. Via, Deputy Surgeon General, Deputy Chief, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED), oversees a simulated combat casualty surgery by Expeditionary Resuscitative Surgery Systems (ERSS) team 29 during Operation Firebreak, November 15, 2022. Operation Firebreak is an exercise designed to evaluate operational readiness this iteration specifically focused on the Role 2 providers and the in-field surgical readiness of ERSS team 29 and Fleet Surgical Team 5.
