The 6th Security Forces Squadron marine patrol unit is responsible for securing the waters surrounding MacDill Air Force Base, which lies along the Interbay Peninsula in Tampa, Florida. The 6th SFS marine patrolmen received national recognition this year for their heroic efforts in rescuing eight civilians whose boat capsized during a storm. The graphic shows U.S. Airman 1st Class Kade Jones, 6th SFS marine patrolman, who was one of the Airmen who undertook the risky safety sweep in stormy conditions and spotted the stranded civilians.
