Special Agents from the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division's Fort Polk Resident Agency, provided forensic evidence training to Fort Polk’s Cub Scout Troop #72.
Twenty-six Scouts, ranging from age 5 to 10, attended with their parents and den leaders. The training focused on forensic evidence, fingerprinting, and evidence processing. Scouts were given hands-on training to dust for prints, lift a print, find a latent print using oblique lighting, and expose a clear photograph. The Scouts were also taught to package evidence, by packaging candy, and mark it for identification with the time, date, and their initials to take home.
The Department of the Army CID is the primary federal law enforcement agency of the U.S. Army. Army CID’s mission is to identify and defeat criminal threats to Army affiliated personnel, installations, procurement efforts, and other assets by providing unparalleled criminal investigative support to the total force.
