1st Lt. Austin Pinkerton (right), a nurse on the post-anesthesia care unit at Bassett Army Community Hospital, practices a pediatric intubation alongside 1st Lt. Alanna Whitfield (center) during a recent Medical Department Activity - Alaska nursing skills fair. The station, set up by Capt. (Dr.) Jessica Eiser (left), gave participants an opportunity to better understand the challenges of pediatric intubation and facilitate teamwork to ensure safe patient care during pediatric airway emergencies. Nursing skills fairs are offered twice a year by the division of Hospital Education and Staff Development.
