Congratulations to our newest DAISY Award recipient, LPN Spc. Kaitlyn Simms.
The DAISY Award was created — in 1999 — by The DAISY Foundation to have another way to honor nurses throughout the year beyond National Nurses’ Week. According to The DAISY Foundation, the program is now active in all 50 states and 33 other countries and territories. DAISY is an acronym for “Diseases Attacking the Immune System.” The family of Patrick Barnes, who passed away from the auto-immune disease idiopathic thrombocytopenia, established the foundation and award to honor the nurses who provided his care during his illness.
