Navy Wounded Warrior staff from Navy Region Mid-Atlantic briefed the Mid-Atlantic Maritime Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) commanding officer and command master chief on January 24, 2023.
During the event, Navy Wounded Warrior staff shared how the program provides enrollees with tailored non-medical care that improves wounded, ill, and injured Sailors’ physical conditioning, supports emotional resilience and quality of life, and deters self-harm. As a result, 12 Sailors assigned to MARMC and currently going through the Disability Evaluation System started the NWW enrollment process.
Navy Wounded Warrior will provide a second briefing in Spring 2023 and participate in the command indoctrinations to increase awareness and reach other eligible Sailors.
Navy Wounded Warrior staff from Navy Region Southeast and Navy Region Southwest will be providing same support to Southeast Regional Maintenance Center (SRMC) and Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC) in February.
Navy Wounded Warrior is so much more than sports. It also offers individualized and proactive guidance on pay and benefits, caregiver resources, bedside travel, job training, childcare, and more. These efforts encourage retention and return to duty, or support a smooth transition to the VA should a medical condition prohibit continued service.
Participation is voluntary and requires service members to self-refer or be referred by their commands, chaplain, medical team, peers, caregivers, or others for enrollment determination.
