230126-N-GR655-0007 BOISE, Idaho (January 26, 2023) – Crewmembers of the future USS Idaho (SSN 799) pose in front of a ship’s bell from the WWII Battleship (BB) 42 USS Idaho during a tour of the Navy Reserve Center in Boise, Idaho, Jan. 26. The tour was part of a larger visit by members of the crew to their future Virginia-class submarine’s namesake state, where the sailors are learning more about Idaho’s rich history and military traditions, as well as sharing their Navy stories and building relationships in the community. The future USS Idaho is currently being built at General Dynamics Corp.’s Electric Boat shipyard in Groton, Connecticut, where the crew – known as a pre-commissioning unit (PCU) – is based.
