Master Sgt. Richard Carey, non-commissioned officer in charge of flight operations with the 1st Battalion, 111th Aviation Regiment, Florida Army National Guard, works at his computer tracking data, Marathon, Fla. The Florida National Guard was activated to support Governor Ron DeSantis’ recent Executive Order 23-03, dated January 6, 2023, to provide resources in support of state and local agencies responding to an influx of migrant landings in South Florida. As a supporting agency, the Florida National Guard is activating up to 150 personnel and 12 helicopters to assist in detecting, identifying, and reporting activity through ongoing aviation operations out of the Florida Keys.
