140th Wing Commander U.S. Air Force Col. Christopher “Wedge” Southard gives a thumbs-up prior to departure as he prepares his F-16 Fighting Falcon for takeoff while Airmen from the 140th Wing implement an Agile Combat Employment wartime scenario at Hill Air Force Base, Utah on January 11, 2023. The 140th volunteered to help meet the requirements of the Aging and Surveillance Program and the Center Test Authority at Hill AFB, while simultaneously accomplishing the ACE wartime scenario. Airmen sharpen their skills on key combat techniques relating to deployment tactics that include loading a C-17 Globemaster III with personnel and equipment, flying to an unfamiliar location, unpacking the cargo jet, reconfiguring the F-16, and loading live munitions.
