Clewiston, Fla. – Jan.25, 2023 --The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, celebrated the completion of construction for the Herbert Hoover Restoration Project around Lake Okeechobee. Park Ranger Megan Meyer from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, participates in the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
At the age of seven, U.S. Army Corps of Engineer, park ranger, Megan Meyer went camping for the first time with her family at Acadia National Park, in Maine. Meyer said “That is was at Arcadia National Park that she completed the Junior Ranger program and received a patch. I thought this was so cool because I looked up to all the rangers and wanted to be just like them. “ When She finally had the opportunity to pursue her dreams, Meyer’s couldn’t wait to share her love and passion for nature with the public and hopefully inspire children just like herself to become future park rangers. Just like the Arcadia rangers had inspired her.
After the ceremony Megan Meyer, achieved the dreams that she conceived as a little girl in Arcadia National Park. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District Commander, Col. James Booth, pinned on her official badge as a USACE park ranger. “ . It was definitely a special and memorable day,“ said Meyer.
