This Fort Riley Friday we visit the Fort Riley Commissary, 2210 Trooper Drive. The facility opened in 1997 replacing the former Commissary in bldg. 229 (aka Polk Hall & West Riding Hall.)
In November 2009, ground was broken for a massive addition to the store. The $24-million expansion increased the size of the store by nearly 75 percent and replaced all refrigeration systems and display cases. 8 check lanes were added and the interior received a colorful upgrade. The project took 28 months to complete with the renovated Commissary holding a ribbon cutting ceremony in March 2012. Following expansion, Fort Riley's Commissary became the 4th largest in the Army.
