This Fort Riley Friday we visit a monument on post that goes by two names: The Great War Memorial and The Funston Monument. Built in late 1918, the memorial/monument honors the Soldiers - approximately 50,000 - who trained at Camp Funston before heading out to fight in World War I. Some 7,000 of those were killed or wounded.
The monument sits next to Huebner Road just east of Buffalo Soldier Drive.
