This Fort Riley Friday we feature Polk Hall. Constructed 1908 as an indoor horse training arena Polk Hall was originally named West Riding Hall, akin to the 1889 East Riding Hall/King Field House. It was used for training by the Cavalry School and the US Equestrian Team, and also for horse shows and polo matches. Later renovated into the Commissary, it now serves as the Soldier Readiness Processing (SRP) site. A portion of the curved metal roof trusses are still visible today. The building is named in honor of Army Gen. James H. Polk.
