WASHINGTON (Jan. 24, 2023) – Official photo of Vice Adm. Johnny R. Wolfe Jr., the director of U.S. Navy Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) based at the Washington Navy Yard. He is dual hatted as Echelon I director for Naval Nuclear Weapons Oversight Program (CNO N00NW) which provides regulatory oversight for the Navy Nuclear Deterrence Mission (NNDM) and technical authority on Department of the Navy nuclear weapons and Nuclear Weapons systems. As Director, SSP Vice Adm. Wolfe is responsible for all aspects of the research, development, production, logistics, storage, repair, and operational support of the Navy's Fleet Weapon Systems. In his role as Director, SSP he is also the U.S. Project Officer for the Polaris Sales Agreement (PSA). The PSA allows the UK to purchase a U.S.-developed submarine launched ballistic missile system for their POLARIS/TRIDENT force and supports an independent British submarine nuclear deterrent force.
