DILI, TIMOR-LESTE (Feb. 10, 2023) – Thomas E. Daley, left, charge d`affaires, United States Embassy in Timor-Leste, U.S. Navy Capt. Doug Langenberg, commanding officer of amphibious transport dock USS. John P. Murtha (LPD 26), and Lt. Col. Jared Reddinger, commanding officer of Battalion Landing Team 2/4, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, have a conversation during the opening ceremony of Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training/Marine Exercise Timor-Leste, Feb, 10. CARAT/MAREX Timor-Leste is a bilateral exercise between Timor-Leste and the United States designed to promote regional security cooperation, maintain and strengthen maritime partnerships, and enhance maritime interoperability. In its 28th year, the CARAT series is comprised of multinational exercises, designed to enhance U.S. and partner forces’ abilities to operate together in response to traditional and non-traditional maritime security challenges in the Indo-Pacific region.
