CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. (Feb. 15, 2023) An Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit (EODMU) 1 Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB) tows a Mark 18 Mod 2 Kingfish unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) through the Del Mar Boat Basin at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Feb. 15. Navy EOD has the largest inventory of UUVs in the Navy, which Expeditionary Mine Countermeasures (ExMCM) Companies primarily employ to search, classify and localize underwater mines and other explosive hazards impeding the maneuver of the fleet and joint force in the maritime environment. EODMU-1 is a component of EOD Group (EODGRU) 1 that clears explosive hazards to provide access to denied areas, employs advanced tactics and technologies to exploit and secure the undersea domain for freedom of maneuver, builds and fosters relationships with trusted partners, and protects the nation.
