CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. (Feb. 17, 2023) A Marine from I Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF) monitors a radio while members of Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit (EODMU) 1 Expeditionary Mine Countermeasures (ExMCM) Company 1-3 attach a towline to an Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV) during a raise, tow, beach operation held as part of an Expeditionary Advance Base Exercise (EABX) at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., Feb. 17. During the operation, Sailors and Marines teamed to identify an object, attach it to a remotely-actuated lift balloon, and tow the object ashore for recovery. EABX is an integration of Navy and Marine Corps forces that supports innovation of tactics, techniques and procedures for use in the littoral environments of U.S. Indo-Pacific Command. EODMU-1 is a component of EOD Group (EODGRU) 1 that clears explosive hazards to provide access to denied areas, employs advanced tactics and technologies to exploit and secure the undersea domain for freedom of maneuver, builds and fosters relationships with trusted partners, and protects the nation.
