View of the Princeton Battle Monument in Princeton, New Jersey, March 8, 2023. The monument depicts Gen. George Washington leading the Continental Army to victory at the Battle of Princeton Jan. 3, 1777, and the death of Brig. Gen. Hugh Mercer during the American Revolutionary War. The 50-foot limestone sculpture, which was created by Frederick William MacMonnies, was dedicated by President Warren G. Harding June 9, 1922. Four small monuments line the walkway leading the Princeton Battle Monument and are dedicated to Col. John Haslet; Capt. Daniel Neil; the Continental Marines, and a commemorative plaque of Rochambeau’s campsite. (New Jersey National Guard photo by Mark C. Olsen)
