A Rosette is placed besides the names of fallen service members who have since been recovered and identified, at the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial (MACM), March 7, 2023. Prior to 2001, the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency has been disinterring unknowns from MACM in order to begin the identification process. However in 2014-2015, DPAA in conjunction with the American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC) began larger scale disinterment projects, bringing larger numbers of unknown service members to DPAA facilities in Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii.
