As seen on Sept. 9, 2021, only a few finishing touches remained to complete the U.S. Navy’s first and only Directed Energy Systems Integration Laboratory (DESIL) at Naval Base Ventura County, Point Mugu in Southern California. The 18,000-square-foot, three-story facility will allow the Navy to test, evaluate and maintain laser weapon systems in a maritime environment while taking advantage of the adjacent Point Mugu Sea Range. The facility is operated by Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division. (U.S. Navy photo by Dana Rene White/Released)
