Staff Sgt. Kyle Gleason, D Company, 130th Illinois Infantry Regiment is congratulated by Polish Soldiers after receiving the Bronze Polish Army Medal at General Jones Armory in Chicago, Illinois March 31. The Polish Army Medal was established by Poland on September 3, 1999 to recognize service to the Polish Army by foreign civilians and military personnel. The medal is presented in three grades, Gold, Silver, and Bronze and awards are presented to members of allied armed forces by the Polish Minister of National Defense. ILARNG Soldiers received the medal for their exceptional work at the Polish Training Center last summer. Throughout the Critical Knowledge Exchange with Soldiers of the Polish Territorial Defense Force, Illinois and Polish Soldiers trained together on mass casualty response, emergency medical care, sniper operations and the Javelin anti-tank system. “The partnership between Poland and Illinois is an enduring cooperation, and the friendships formed between our servicemembers transcend distance and borders of our two countries,” said Capt. Crystal Rodrigues, State Partnership Program Director of the Illinois National Guard.
