USAID/OTI, in partnership with Nadia's Initiative, trained 600 volunteer lecturers on student-centered teaching methods and child protection skills to improve their ability to support young people in Sinjar. After ISIS destruction of the region in 2014, many full-time teachers moved out of Sinjar, leaving a big gap in the education sector. Educated Sinjaris, stepped in to volunteer their free time to students, but they lacked technical support and training. This project aims to support these teachers by improving their skills, acknowledging the critical services they provide to children in the region.
