Meet Anhar Adel, a young human rights activist from Nasiriyah.
Anhar believes in taking action to create a positive change in her community. She says, "many schools in Nasiriyah are in bad conditions, but we cannot just wait for the government or education directorate to improve the conditions of our children's schools. It is a shared responsibility between the government and the community." Anhar and a group of young men and women from Nasiriyah worked together to rehabilitate 8 schools where they painted walls, repaired pipes, faucets, ceiling fans, etc... Anhal's goal is to improve the educational environment for children and send a message that women and youth have an effective role within their community.
