On April 26, Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune's corpsmen taught Stop The Bleed techniques to Marines with the 10th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division. This period of instruction was in tandem with the Combat Lifesaver Course in which Marines are taught to provide first aid to injured service members in combat situations. Tourniquet application, applying pressure and wound packing are the lifesaving skills taught during the course.

The concept behind Stop the Bleed is to control life-threatening external bleeding prior to the arrival of medical personnel. NMCCL’s team has taught thousands of people in Eastern North Carolina how to potentially save a life during a trauma scenario.
