    143d Sustainment Command (Expeditionary)

    The 401st Quartermaster Detachment, an Army Reserve unit from Lock Haven, Pa., stages outside Long Beach High School, Long Beach, N.Y., Nov. 6 in preparation to pump water out of the school. The unit activated and deployed to the effected area under the National Defense Authorization Act of 2012 to support to the Federal Emergency Management Agency and state authorities. The unit is designed to purify water for troops on the battlefield however, in this case they are pumping water out of areas most effected by Hurricane Sandy.
