Staff Sgt. Michelle Satterfield, non-commissioned officer in charge, 401st, 401st Quartermaster Detachment, describes water removal operations to defense coordinating officer, Army Col. Ed Manning Nov. 7 at the Redfern Housing complex, Rockaway, N.Y. The unit removed water from various locations in an effort to return utilities to areas most effected by Hurricane Sandy. Soldiers from the unit conducted operations despite effects from a second storm in support of the FEMA, state and local officials. The unit removed water from three buildings at the complex.
