More than 90 Sailors took part in the Battle of Flowers Parade during Fiesta San Antonio 2023. The Battle of Flowers Parade is the oldest Fiesta event and is the only parade in the United States produced entirely by women, all of whom are volunteers. Leading the Sailors in the parade was Cmdr. Joel Strong, executive officer of Navy Talent Acquisition Group (NTAG) San Antonio. Leading the way was NTAG San Antonio’s float, a replica of the USS San Antonio (LPD 17), while students and staff members from Navy Medicine Training Support Center (NMTSC) and Navy Information Operations Command (NIOC) marched along the 2.6-mile route. NTAG San Antonio’s area of responsibility includes more than 30 Navy Recruiting Stations and Navy Officer Recruiting Stations spread throughout 144,000 square miles of Central and South Texas territory.
