Maine Air National Guard Airmen Staff Sgt. Michael Wallace and Senior Airman Matthew Hamel, and Montenegro Military soldier Corporal Mikovic deploy the MUOS antennae to establish radio communications via satellite link Nova Lokacija, Montenegro. Using the MUOS, Wallace, Hamel and Mikovic were able to to call from Nova Lokacija, Montenegro to the South Portland Air National Guard Station, South Portland, Maine, May 22, 2023. Soldiers and Airmen from the Maine National Guard will be working hand in hand with the Montenegro Military and staged at multiple locations throughout Montenegro in support of Immediate Response 23 (IR23), the second of three exercises of the Dynamic Employment of Forces to Europe for Nato Deterrence and Enhanced Readiness 2023 (Defender 23).
