Staff Sgt. Chris Nieman, a Sioux City, Iowa, native, infantryman and weapons squad leader with Company A, 1st Battalion, 168th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division, Iowa Army National Guard, smiles for a portrait at Camp Guernsey Joint Training Center in Wyoming on May 16, 2023. The 1-168th Infantry completed a two-week annual training period at Camp Guernsey. Nieman was tasked with familiarizing Soldiers on the unit’s new M3A1 Carl Gustaf Multi-roll, Anti-armor, Anti-personnel Weapon System (MAWWS).
“I really enjoy being in the field and training soldiers,” said Nieman. “It's loud, it blows up, you know what I mean? Soldiers, they enjoy that. On a tactical level I think it just increases our lethality and it’s just a force multiplier on its own.”
