U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Patrick M. Kennedy, New Jersey National Guard Assistant Adjutant General-Air, Col. Derek. B. Routt, 177th Fighter Wing commander, and Col. Yvonne Mays, 177th Mission Support Group commander, visited the 177FW, 108th Wing and 111th Attack Wing civil engineers during their annual Prime Base Engineer Emergency Force exercise May 21, 2023, at Camp Madbull on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska. The civil engineers participated in Scruffy Devil, a Prime BEEF 96-hour contingency training focused on rapidly establishing living quarters, base sustainment and emergency service support. The Scruffy Devil exercise earned its name through its nature as expeditionary training with engineers dealing with extreme weather conditions, field conditions and limited communications.
