    U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Lucas Smith, 177th Civil Engineer Squadron commander, center, debriefs Airmen of the 177th, 108th, and 111th Civil Engineer Squadrons on their participation in an obstacle course May 23, 2023, at Camp Madbull on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska. The civil engineers participated in the obstacle course during Scruffy Devil, a Prime Base Engineer Emergency Force 96-hour contingency training focused on rapidly establishing living quarters, base sustainment and emergency service support. The Scruffy Devil exercise earned its name through its nature as expeditionary training with engineers dealing with extreme weather conditions, field conditions and limited communications.
